About Me

Currently a teacher candidate at the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Education, I am working my way to becoming a qualified teacher in Intermediate/Senior English and History. I completed my undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2011, and hope one day to teach in Waterloo Region. I believe that the classroom should be a safe, creative place for students to learn skills and material that is relevant to their lives and their future education. My goal is to create such an environment  for my students, and to act as a guide in their never-ending quest for knowledge.

In July 2011, I braved a crowd of 250 people and talked about why children's literacy is so important, and how parents can encourage their children to read. Despite my attack of nerves, I made it through, and here's the final product!

My personal hobbies include cooking up delicious meals, teaching myself to knit off YouTube, reading anything that strikes my fancy, and learning fun but useless trivia facts. My current "To Read" list is about 150 titles long, and for every book I read, two more are added to the pile.

Currently reading: Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff.

And these are just the books I brought with me to school.
